Klein's Deli has been a popular gathering place for the Potrero Hill crowd since Deborah Klein founded the deli in 1979. In 1990, Avery McGinn, who opened the store with Deborah, became its current owner.

At the heart of Klein's success is the quality and the variety of their sandwiches which are big and imaginative and named after famous women of the twentieth century.  Frida Kahlo (chicken salad with mango chutney, almonds, raisins, a dash of curry, lettuce and tomato on whole wheat), and Piaf (Roast Beef, Cream Cheese, Horseradish, Dill Pickle & Tomato on Dark Rye) are but two of the twenty one sandwiches named after women of accomplishment who provide the theme for Klein's creative concept, one which has made Klein’s a destination deli for twenty seven years.

Klein's expanded to the San Francisco airport in 2004 when they opened a deli in Terminal Three at Gate 64 near American Airlines' departure gates. A few months later a second store opened at Gate 36 in Terminal One near Continental and Alaska Airlines. Ten of Klein's top signature sandwiches along with a complement of fresh salads, desserts and espresso drinks provide great options for passengers to take on board. The next time you travel out of SFO, you can 'Fly with Klein's.'
